Ejuku Community Hails Rep Leke Abejide for Drainage Project, Financial Support

Residents of Ejuku town and Ajumoni communities in Okeoyi axis of Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State, have expressed gratitude to Rt Hon. Leke Abejide, member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, for his intervention in tackling perennial flooding and for a financial donation to the communities in Yagbaland.

Speaking at the disbursement event for the Leke Abejide Foundation’s ₦10m community empowerment initiative for each of the 71 communities in Yagbaland, held at the Ejuku Community Town Hall and attended by traditional rulers, community leaders, and indigenes, Pastor Adetiba Walid, President of the Ejuku Development Society, said the community had come together “with hearts full of gratitude and appreciation to honour a leader whose actions have spoken louder than words.”

“Today, we gather to express our sincere thanks to our distinguished Honourable Member of the House of Representatives Yagba Federal Constituency, Elder Leke Abejide, for the remarkable support and commitment shown to our community,” Walid said.

He highlighted the ongoing construction of a drainage system as a turning point for residents who have long grappled with flooding, erosion, and damaged roads during the rainy season.

“For many years, residents have faced difficulties caused by poor drainage, especially during the rainy season. Flooding, erosion, and damaged roads became a constant challenge to both residents and business owners. Today, because of your intervention, there is renewed hope,” he said.

Walid added that the project is “not only improving our environment but also protecting lives, properties, and the future of our children.”

The community also acknowledged Abejide’s #10m financial donation, describing it as timely support during challenging economic times.

“Such kindness and support reflect your compassion and genuine concern for the well-being of your people. Your contribution will go a long way in supporting community development,” Walid said.

He noted that Abejide’s conduct has made him a role model for younger generations, adding that “you have become a source of inspiration to many, especially to the younger generation who look up to leaders with integrity, humility, and a heart for service.”

The event was attended by His Royal Majesty, Oba Folorunsho Lamide Ayeni; other royal fathers; executives of the Ejuku Development Society; chiefs; and indigenes of Ejuku town.

Praying for the lawmaker, Walid said: “We pray that God grants you more wisdom, strength, good health, and greater opportunities to continue serving humanity. May your efforts continue to yield positive results, and may your legacy of kindness and development last long in this community and beyond.”

“On behalf of the entire community, we say thank you for your generosity, thank you for your dedication, and thank you for being a leader who truly cares,” he concluded.
