Ejuku Monarch, Oba Folorunsho Ayeni, Commends Rep Leke Abejide for Strong Community Engagement
The Elejuku of Ejuku, His Royal Majesty Oba Folorunsho Lamide Ayeni, has commended Hon. Leke Abejide, member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, for his consistent engagement and support for grassroots communities.
Oba Ayeni made the remarks during a gathering at the Ejuku Community Town Hall held for the disbursement of the Leke Abejide Foundation’s ₦10m community empowerment initiative. He commended Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide for his monumental love and care for traditional rulers, not only in Yagba Federal Constituency but across the entire Okunland. He pointed out that Abejide remains the first representative in the area to provide SUV vehicles to all traditional rulers to ease their mobility.
He also noted that, courtesy of the lawmaker, traditional rulers in Okunland receive monthly stipends to support their welfare, stressing that what the Kogi State government pays traditional rulers “cannot take them anywhere.”
The monarch said Abejide’s presence and interventions had made a tangible difference in Ejuku and across Yagba Federal Constituency. He pointed to the ongoing construction of the community’s drainage system and a recent financial donation as evidence of the lawmaker’s responsiveness to local needs.
“For many years, residents have faced difficulties caused by poor drainage, especially during the rainy season. Flooding, erosion, and damaged roads became a constant challenge,” a community statement read during the event noted. “Today, because of your intervention, there is renewed hope.”
Oba Ayeni described Abejide’s approach as leadership that listens and acts, adding that such efforts strengthen trust between elected officials and the people. He urged other public office holders to emulate this model of direct community engagement.
