Speaking to members of the advocacy organization and state officials, the Emir emphasized that his Emirate will continue to take stringent measures to protect the youth from the dangers of hard drug use. He stated that the issue of drug abuse is a major concern and vowed that the Rano Emirate will do everything possible to curb addiction and prevent the destruction of young lives.
“We have already informed the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano that we are serious about fighting this menace. Our youths are the future, and we cannot stand by while drugs destroy their potential,” the Emir stated.
The Emir further encouraged the youth to reject drug abuse and embrace productive activities that can build their future. He praised the efforts of AADARAI in their outreach and urged them to intensify their campaigns and awareness programs across the state.
As part of the Emirate’s initiatives, the Emir highlighted the recent organization of a football competition aimed at engaging youths positively and raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. He noted that sports and recreational activities are powerful tools for educating and mobilizing young people against harmful habits.
In his remarks, Honourable Salisu Sa’adu Lili, the Kano State Coordinator of AADARAI, thanked the Emir for his visionary leadership and community-based initiatives against drug abuse. He noted that the organization was also in the palace to express condolences over the recent death of a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and a native son of the Emirate in a tragic incident.
“We came to show our respect and gratitude to the Emir and to acknowledge the strong efforts made by the Rano Emirate in combating drug abuse,” said Honourable Lili.
Honourable Lili also announced that AADARAI is preparing a comprehensive enlightenment campaign throughout Kano State, aiming to educate communities on the dangers of drug abuse and offer pathways to rehabilitation for those affected.
In appreciation of the Emir’s dedication to the cause, AADARAI presented a special Award of Excellence to His Royal Highness, recognizing his impactful efforts in the ongoing fight against drug abuse in the region.
