Empowering the Girl Child: A Beacon of Hope for a Brighter Future

In a world where the girl child faces numerous challenges, the Girls Together Summit in Abuja shines a light on the opportunities and potential that lie within. Organized by Helpline Social Support Initiative, an NGO dedicated to empowering girls, the summit brought together a diverse group of young girls from various social circles, along with esteemed panelists and guests.

The founder, Dr. Jumai Ahmadu Usman, welcomed everyone with a passionate plea to support the girl child in taking hold of their future. The keynote address by Mrs. Adebayo Benjamins-Laniyi, Mandate Secretary of FCT Women Affairs Secretariat, set the tone for the event, highlighting the challenges and opportunities faced by girls in the digital age.

A highlight of the summit was the presentation by Queen Aishat Salau Audu, Little Miss Kogi, who delivered a powerful speech that earned her a standing ovation. Her words of encouragement and hope inspired the audience, and her story served as a testament to the impact of the Helpline Social Support Initiative.

Other girls who have grown through the foundation also shared their stories, recounting how the platform has helped them in their pursuit of a better tomorrow. Their testimonies were a tribute to the dedication and hard work of the Helpline Social Support Initiative team, who worked tirelessly to make the summit a success.

The team’s efforts ensured that the summit was not only informative but also homely and supportive, providing a safe space for the girls to share their experiences and connect with one another.

The event, a collaboration between Helpline Social Support Initiative and FCTA Women Affairs Secretariat, Abuja, was a resounding success. It served as a reminder that the girl child is a force to be reckoned with, and that together, we can create a brighter future for them.

As one of the attendees aptly put it, “This summit has inspired me to believe in myself and my abilities. I am no longer limited by my circumstances, but empowered to create the life I desire.”

The Girls Together Summit is a testament to the power of collective action and the impact it can have on the lives of young girls. Let us continue to support and uplift them, for they are the leaders and change-makers of tomorrow.
