Ex-Oyo First Lady, Kemi Akala distributes food items, cash to Ogbomoso women
KEHINDE AKINPELU, ILORIN
The former First Lady of Oyo State, Chief Mrs Kemi Akala, has put smiles on the faces of indigent women in Ogbomoso and environs during the Yuletide festivities, with the distribution of food items of various types and cash.
Mrs Akala, who is the widow of the late Governor Alao Akala, said that the gesture, which she started during the governorship tenure of her late husband, is an annual philanthropic outreach to indigent women, who are mostly widows.
She said that the initiative is to let the poor widows have a feel of the Christmas and New Year festivities just as their neighbours.
Mrs Akala went round two of the five local government areas in Ogbomoso land, distributing items like rice, semovita, and beans to the women, who were full of excitement and praises for the former First Lady.
In an interview with newsmen, two of the beneficiaries, Mrs Ayantunde Maria from Ogbomosho North Local Government and Abdulsalami Adama from Orire Local Government Ikoyi, profusely thanked Mrs Akala for always remembering them.
The duo prayed to God to continue to bless the former First Lady and her family.
