“Executives Will Continue to Partner Legislature for State’s Rapid Devt”, Affirms Gov Ododo

The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has assured the legislative arm of government of the continued relationship and collaboration of the state Executive Council to facilitate the rapid development of the state.

The Governor, represented by his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu, stated this in a message during the second anniversary of the eighth Assembly of the Kogi State House of Assembly in Lokoja on Wednesday, acknowledging that the oversight functions of the lawmakers have been both thorough and impactful.

He expressed gratitude for the collaborative spirit that has existed between the two arms of government, commending the lawmakers for upholding the independence of the legislature with honor and dignity, while equally demonstrating a readiness to synergize with the executive arm for the betterment of the state. He emphasized that it is the caliber of leadership the people deserves.

The governor urged the lawmakers to hold the executives accountable in a manner that reflects maturity, responsibility, and a genuine commitment to transparency and good governance, noting that their dedication has significantly improved the quality of service delivery in the current administration.

He prayed that God should bestow upon the lawmakers greater zeal and a unified purpose, to continue to give their constituents better representation.

Earlier in his address, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, noted that the current Assembly has met all expectations over the past two years. He urged the people to laud the legislature, as its appropriation functions have guaranteed the availability of resources for the executive to implement social programs that benefit the entire state, affirming that the Assembly plays an integral role in the day-to-day success of the government.

He maintained that the twenty-five assembly members, as well as the governor and deputy, are the only elected officials at the state level entrusted with the sole responsibility of representing the citizens, revealing that all other officials are appointees. He noted that this is the reason why the executives enjoys robust synergy with the lawmakers on all matters that promotes development in the state.
