Ezza Youths Nullify PDP Guber Endorsement

Onyeka Nnabu

Youth group in Ezza clan, Ebonyi State known as Ezza Ezekuna General Youth Assembly (EEGYA), has dismissed the endorsement of the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii by opposing youth group in the clan; Ezza Ezekuna Youth Assembly (EEYA for the 2027 general election in the state.

EEGYA, in a communique issued after its meeting in Onueke, Ezza South Local Government Area of the state at the weekend, signed by the National President, Jeff Ogbu and Secretary, Comrade Nkwuda David Friday, the group said any purported youth group speaking for Ezza youths without EEGYA’s mandate does not represent the position of Ezza youths.

The group said it had already adopted Governor Francis Nwifuru for the next year’s governorship election in the because of his leadership style, equity, justice and fairness.

” EEGYA commends His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Bldr. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, Governor of Ebonyi State, for the remarkable development strides of his administration. Ezza Clan has been a major beneficiary of road infrastructure, human capital development, youth empowerment, and social welfare programmes under his leadership.

“We particularly appreciate the Governor for his deliberate peace initiatives that have restored permanent peace to communities that were hitherto engulfed in crises, including Effium and Abaomege/Ishinkwo. His commitment to dialogue, justice, and security has given Ezza clan a new lease of life.

“EEGYA sincerely thanks the Governor for appointing numerous sons and daughters of Ezza Clan, including many youths, into key and enviable positions in his administration. This gesture of inclusion has given our people a strong voice in governance.

“After a critical review of the political landscape in Ebonyi State ahead of the 2027 general elections, EEGYA unanimously adopts His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru as our sole candidate for Governor in the 2027 governorship election in the State.

“EEGYA also adopts all its brothers who are candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Senatorial to House of Assembly seats across Ebonyi State, including APC candidates for the forthcoming local government elections in the State.

“This decision is anchored on performance, continuity, and the need to sustain the gains of the present administration of Gov. Nwifuru.

“EEGYA categorically states that Ezza Clan is not interested in contesting for Governor or Deputy Governor in 2027. In the spirit of equity, fairness, and the existing power rotation arrangement in the state, we warn all Ezza sons and daughters against accepting nomination as governorship or deputy governorship candidate of any political party.

“Any Ezza son or daughter who has accepted such nomination is hereby called upon to withdraw immediately, or be prepared to face the collective resolve of Ezza youths.

“EEGYA strongly condemns unscrupulous individuals who impersonate the Assembly and use our name to trade endorsements for political gains. We make specific reference to the recent purported endorsement of the factional PDP governorship candidate, Chief Chukwuma Ifeanyi Odii, by a faceless group who claim to be members of Ezza Ezekuna General youths Assembly. Consequently, EEGYA declares such impersonators persona non grata and calls on all relevant security agencies to arrest and prosecute them in accordance with the law.

“EEGYA urges all Ezza youths and stakeholders to take full advantage of the ongoing INEC Continuous Voter Registration exercise. We charge community leaders to mobilize aggressively for voter registration across all Ezza communities to ensure Ezza votes count in 2027.

“EEGYA reaffirms our adoption of Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and all APC candidates for the 2027 elections. We state unequivocally that we shall resist, through lawful and democratic means, any form of opposition, sabotage, or distraction against our adopted candidates in Ezza Clan,”, the communique said.
