FUOYE shines at 2025 CITN National Tax Debate Competition, clinches first position

The Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has emerged winner of the 2025 National Tax Debate Completion organised by the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN).

FUOYE, a 14-year-old educational institution that has experienced an exponential growth and known for its academic excellence, was said to have defeated other top universities from across Nigeria, to occupy the first position in the national tax debate competition.

“The Federal University Oye-Ekiti has once again proven its academic excellence by emerging first at the just concluded CITN National Tax Debate Competition 2025, held on May 14, 2025.

“The star of the competition was Titiloye Korede Joshua, a student of Accounting, who was crowned the Tax Debate Winner. He was supported by a dedicated team of delegates including Aderemi Bukola Serifat (Economics), Fasasi Abraham (Business Administration), and Yusuf Lateef Ife (Accounting).

“Reacting to the victory, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of FUOYE, Prof Olubunmi Shittu commended the students for their exceptional performance, saying: ‘This remarkable achievement is a testament to the quality of students we are nurturing at FUOYE. I am extremely proud of the team for their dedication, brilliance, and composure throughout the competition. They have not only represented the university with excellence but have also elevated our name on the national stage. Thank you for making us proud and for showing that FUOYE is truly a centre of intellectual distinction.’

“In his remarks, Dr. Osmond C. Agu, Staff Adviser to the FUOYE Tax Club, also hailed the students for their exceptional display of knowledge, confidence, and teamwork, which stood out remarkably throughout the competition.

“Babcock University and the University of Ilorin came second and third, respectively, in what was a highly competitive and intellectually stimulating event that brought together some of the brightest minds from universities across the country.

“This victory not only highlights FUOYE’s commitment to academic and intellectual development but also reinforces its growing influence in the field of taxation and economic discourse in Nigeria.”

The creation of a conducive environment for teaching and learning by FUOYE management has seen the staff and students of the university excelling and winning laurels for outstanding research works and academic accomplishments, and thereby making the school proud.
