By Wilson Macaulay
In a powerful and heartfelt tribute, prominent Niger Delta figure and one of the respected ex-militant leaders under the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) Phase 3, General John Abugor, has celebrated the 55th birthday of revered Niger Delta leader, High Chief Dr Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, widely known as Tompolo.
Describing Tompolo as “a towering figure of uncommon courage and visionary leadership,” General Abugor noted that the celebrant remains one of the most respected voices in the Niger Delta, whose influence has continued to shape the region’s socio-economic and security landscape.
“At 55, Tompolo stands tall as a symbol of resilience, sacrifice, and strategic leadership. His journey from the creeks to national relevance is not just inspiring but also a testament to his unwavering commitment to the peace, stability, and development of the Niger Delta,” Abugor stated.
He emphasized that Tompolo’s contributions to national security and economic stability, particularly through Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, have been monumental. According to him, the company has played a decisive role in curbing oil theft and pipeline vandalism, thereby boosting Nigeria’s oil production and restoring confidence in the region.
General Abugor used the occasion to commend Chief Kestin Pondi and the management of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited for their outstanding performance, especially their remarkable presentation at the National Assembly. He described the presentation as “exceptional, data-driven, and convincing,” noting that it ultimately earned Tantita a well-deserved endorsement from the lawmakers.
“The endorsement by the National Assembly is a clear validation of Tantita’s competence, professionalism, and dedication to national service. It reflects the trust reposed in the organization as a reliable security outfit capable of delivering on critical national assignments,” he added.
Abugor also extended profound appreciation to Chief Dennis Otuaro, Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, for his transformative leadership. He applauded Otuaro’s commitment to capacity building through the training of leaders both within Nigeria and abroad, as well as his robust empowerment initiatives aimed at improving the livelihoods of beneficiaries.
“Dr. Otuaro has shown exceptional leadership by prioritizing human capital development. His training programmes and empowerment schemes are repositioning the Niger Delta youths and ex-agitators for a more productive and globally competitive future,” Abugor remarked.
As he joined millions of admirers to celebrate Tompolo at 55, General Abugor prayed for greater accomplishments, sound health, and divine wisdom for the Niger Delta icon.
“High Chief Dr Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo remains a pillar of hope, a unifier, and a stabilizing force in the Niger Delta. His legacy will continue to inspire generations. Happy 55th Birthday to a living legend,” he concluded.
