Gov. Ododo Hailed by Labour Leaders for Improved Workers’ Welfare, Vows Support for the Govt.

Amidst the prevailing industrial harmony in Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has been lauded for upholding harmony and tranquility between the government and the organized labor unions within the state.
The governor was commended on Tuesday evening during an intimate dinner and roundtable dialogue between the Deputy Governor of Kogi State and the labor leaders at the official residence of the Deputy Governor in Lokoja.
Addressing the gathering during the dinner, Deputy Governor Joel Salifu extolled Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo as a Godsent, emphasizing that the smooth rapport between labor unions and the government is a direct result of the governor’s exemplary representation of the state.
Salifu emphasized Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s unwavering commitment to prioritizing the welfare of workers and assured that this momentum will be sustained. He urged the leaders to continue supporting and collaborating with the government for the overall peogress of the state.
He reminisced about his longstanding tradition of dining with labor leaders, a practice he maintained since his tenure as the state NUT Chairman, urging the group to consistently align themselves with the governor and himself, both of whom were formerly members of the labor force.
In his remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Labor Matters, Hon. Onuh Edoka, noted that the labor leaders, who had paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor, comprise his immediate constituency and are the stalwarts who toil tirelessly in the state’s trenches to secure a better life for state workers.
Edoka highlighted that the dinner with the labor leaders marked a pioneering event and encouraged the group to continue fostering a partnership with the government to maintain peace, harmony, and progress within the state.
The state chairman of the Nigeria Labor Congress, Comrade Gabriel Amari, in his address, expressed gratitude for the Deputy Governor’s invitation to partake in an evening of fine dining, noting that it was the first of its kind in the state’s history.
He congratulated the governor and deputy on their victory in the recent election and subsequent judicial ruling, affirming that their leadership is divinely ordained to serve the state.
Amari commended the state government for its enhanced disbursement of civil servants’ salaries and pensions, the implementation of a minimum wage of 72,500, and the harmonization and augmentation of pensions, asserting that Kogi stands as a pioneering model for proper minimum wage implementation across the 36 states of the federation.
He asked the rhetorical question of what more qualities any discerning Kogite could desire in leadership that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and Deputy Governor Joel Salifu do not possess. He pledged the steadfast support of the labor unions in the state for the current administration’s success and vowed to bolster their reelection bid with unwavering dedication and fervor.
