Gov Ododo Hails Mass Defection of Plateau Lawmakers, Opposition Members to APC

The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Saturday joined leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State to welcome a major wave of defections from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) into the ruling party. The event, which held in Jos, marked the official decamping of Hon. Daniel Asama Ago, Member representing Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency; Hon. Ajang Alfred Iliya, Member representing Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency; Dr. Patrick Dakum, CEO of the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN); and thousands of their supporters into the APC.
According to the Press secretary to the Deputy Governor, Mr Unubi Emmanuel, the defection ceremony, convened by the the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda attracted top party leaders including the Senate President, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, Deputy Speaker Federal House of Representatives, Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu, Governor of Nasarawa State, Alhaji Sule Abdullahi; Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State; the Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, Engr. Aminu Usman; and former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Simon Bako Lalong. Senior party officials like the APC Deputy National Chairman (North), Dr. Alih Bukar Dalori, and the National Organizing Secretary, Dr. Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, OFR, were also in attendance.
Governor Ododo, who was represented by his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu, commended the new entrants for choosing the APC as the platform to further their political aspirations and contribute to national development.
He was accompanied by federal and state lawmakers from Kogi State, including Hon. Danladi Aguye (Lokoja/Koto), Hon. Abdulraheem Sani Egidi (Ajaokuta), Hon. Idris Salman (Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu), and Hon. Shehu Seidu Amodu (Ofu State Constituency). Other members of his entourage included the Director General of Kogi Community Watch and Ancillary Matters, Hon. Muhammed Nasiru Alfa; the Executive Chairman of Lokoja LGA, Hon. Adamu Abdullahi; and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Commerce and Industry, Hon. Adejoh Nicodemus Pexy.
Governor Ododo reaffirmed the APC’s readiness to continue strengthening its structures across the country and described the mass defection as a strong indicator of the party’s rising acceptance, credibility and good works of the president nationwide.
