Gov. Ododo Mourns Ibrahim Idris, Declares Three Days of Mourning

Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has mourned the death of former Governor of the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, describing his passing as a profound loss to Kogi State and Nigeria.
In honour of the late former governor, Governor Ododo has declared a three-day period of mourning across the state and directed that the national flag and Kogi State flag be flown at half-mast at government offices and other designated public institutions throughout the mourning period.

Governor Ododo had earlier visited the residence of the late Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, where he commiserated with members of the Idris family.
In a condolence letter addressed to the family, Governor Ododo said the death of the former governor had robbed Kogi State of an eminent son who devoted a significant part of his life to serving the people.
The Governor also announced that the late former governor would receive a State Burial, with the Kogi State Government taking full responsibility for the burial expenses and making the necessary arrangements to accord him the honour befitting a former Governor of the state.
Alhaji Ibrahim Idris served as Governor of Kogi State from 2003 to 2011 and, according to the statement, contributed to the development and institutional growth of the state during his tenure.
Governor Ododo noted that the administration of the late former governor witnessed interventions in infrastructure, education, healthcare and other critical sectors, stressing that the impact of his years in office would remain part of the developmental history of Kogi State.
According to him, beyond the projects and policies associated with his administration, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris would be remembered as a public servant who committed himself to the responsibilities entrusted to him by the people.
“His years in public office formed an important chapter in the political and developmental journey of Kogi State,” Governor Ododo said.
He urged members of the Idris family to draw strength from the enduring memories of the late former governor’s service and the positive impact he made on the lives of many people.
The Governor said the mourning period would also provide an opportunity for the people of Kogi State to reflect on the life and public service of the former governor and his contribution to the growth of the state.
Governor Ododo, on behalf of the Government and people of Kogi State, extended his deepest condolences to the Idris family, friends, associates and all those mourning the former governor.
He prayed that Almighty Allah would forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus and give the family and the people of Kogi State the strength to bear the loss.
