Governor Oborevwori is Committed to Ayakoromor Bridge Project – Urhobo HOSTCOM Youth Wing
By Wilson Macaulay
In a strongly worded response to recent statements made by activist and commentator Mr. Austin Ozobo, the Urhobo HOSTCOM Youth Wing has reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State, to the construction of the Ayakoromor Bridge project.
The Youth Wing, under the vibrant leadership of Comrade Sweet Otiotio (Leader) and Mr. Happy Gbeke (Secretary), condemned the assertions made by Mr. Ozobo, describing them as not only misleading but also a deliberate attempt to politicize a critical infrastructural project that stands to benefit thousands of Deltans, especially in Burutu and its adjoining communities.
Addressing a gathering of journalists and community stakeholders at a press briefing held in Warri, Comrade Sweet Otiotio stated categorically that Governor Oborevwori has demonstrated sincere political will and action-oriented leadership towards the actualization of the Ayakoromor Bridge, a long-standing infrastructural need that has faced multiple delays across previous administrations.
“It is not only unfair but outrightly deceptive for anyone to allege that the Governor is playing politics with the Ayakoromor Bridge. The records are there for everyone to see. Governor Oborevwori has continued to fund the project and has even visited the site personally. His M.O.R.E. Agenda is rooted in infrastructure development, and this bridge is one of the top priorities,” Comrade Otiotio declared.
Mr. Happy Gbeke, the Youth Wing’s Secretary, also weighed in, highlighting recent progress on the bridge, noting that substantial engineering work has resumed following Governor Oborevwori’s directive for increased contractor mobilization to site.
“What Austin Ozobo failed to acknowledge is that under the current administration, we are witnessing steady construction activities on the Ayakoromor Bridge, unlike in the past when the project was completely dormant. There have been visible milestones, and the governor’s consistency in budgeting for this project is commendable,” Mr. Gbeke emphasized.
The Urhobo HOSTCOM Youth Wing further appealed to critics to set aside political sentiments and support the government in ensuring the speedy realization of the bridge, which, when completed, will not only boost economic integration between riverine and upland communities but also serve as a symbol of unity, development, and peace in Delta State.
They stressed that while constructive criticism is healthy for democracy, statements laced with falsehoods and political mischief only serve to derail progress and misinform the public.
The Youth Wing concluded their statement by pledging continued support to the administration of Governor Oborevwori, urging Deltans to remain patient and united as the government intensifies efforts to complete legacy projects across the state, including the Ayakoromor Bridge.
“We stand by Governor Oborevwori and the M.O.R.E. Agenda. Ayakoromor Bridge is not just a promise; it is a commitment, and the Governor is walking that talk with sincerity and results,” Comrade Sweet Otiotio concluded.
