Governor Umaru Bago disburses ₦492 million for empowerment as the Minister of Women Affairs commissions the Nigeria for Women Project (NFWP) Rice Processing Center.

Farmer Governor of Niger State, Umaru Bago, has commissioned the Nigeria for Women Project (NFWP) Rice Processing Center in Nassarawa Izom 2, located in the Gwachipe area of Gurara Local Government. The project is collaborative effort between the World Bank and the Niger State Government, to improve the social, physical, and economic well-being of women, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim, commended the women for their unity and initiative in establishing groups. She also expressed gratitude to the Governor for providing counterpart funding and encouraged the women to take ownership of the project to ensure its sustainability.

While addressing the event, Gov. Bago commended the women for their active participation and commitment to the project. He reiterated his administration’s dedication to improving the lives of women across the state.

Governor Bago, alongside the Minister of Women Affairs, presented a ₦492 million cheque to 41 women cooperative groups under the Niger State NFWP. The funds, provided by the World Bank, are earmarked as operational support to strengthen rice production and processing in the state.
