Graceland Coop Holds Annual Luncheon in Abuja
By John lkpea, Abuja
Graceland Cooperative Limited (GCL), penultimate saturday, held its annual luncheon which brought together members, their families and friends to a particular venue where they wined, dinned and danced to good music.
They also used the occasion to appraise performance and progress recorded in the previous year and of course brainstormed on how to achieve what they could not achieve in the same period under review.
The annual luncheon hold every last saturday of January.
Graceland Cooperative has a very rich and edifying history of over two years reflecting its aim and objective geared towards promotion of economic development of members spread across the country.
ln a brief session with Glamour International Magazine shortly after the event held in Abuja, the Cooperative’s General Secretary, Mr. Lambert Duruchukwu, said the Cooperative, registered in 2022 with very few members, has membership strength of over 3,000 and has brought many out of poverty, providing decent and affordable homes for members and easy access to loans with flexible interest rate.
His words, “Like beginning of every good thing, getting people to accept what we were doing at the beginning was a herculean task but those who joined us because they believe in us and what we stand for, are happy for it today.
“So, we don’t really need to go to radio and television stations to create what you called awareness or blow our trumpet; no we don’t need that and the reason is not farfetched. Quite a number of our members have acquired plots of land and properties through the Cooperative and they are in vantage position to tell outsiders why they should come and enjoy the unique benefits being offered by Graceland Cooperative”, Duruchukwu concluded.
