As Muslims across the globe commemorate the birth of the Noble Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), His Excellency Murtala Sule Garo — 2023 Gubernatorial Deputy Governor Candidate and former Commissioner for Local Government in Kano State — has extended warm felicitations to the entire Muslim Ummah, particularly the good people of Kano State.
In a goodwill message issued to journalists on Friday, Garo expressed deep joy and solidarity with the Muslim community on the occasion of Eid Maulud, a moment of reflection, renewal, and reaffirmation of faith.
> “Maulud is not merely a celebration; it is a sacred occasion that reminds us of the timeless virtues, teachings, and exemplary life of the Seal of all Prophets, Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). His life remains a beacon of guidance for humanity, one that embodies mercy, justice, humility, and compassion,” Garo said.
He urged Muslims to seize this spiritual period to reflect on the Prophet’s teachings and strive to embody his noble character in daily life. He emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence, religious tolerance, and charitable acts, especially in these trying times.
> “Let us use this season to deepen our love for one another, support the needy, and recommit ourselves to the values of honesty, sacrifice, and piety, as taught by the Holy Prophet. Islam is a religion of peace, and the best way to honour the Prophet is to live by his Sunnah and the commandments of the Holy Qur’an,” he added.
Garo also appealed to well-meaning individuals and institutions to invest in and support Islamic educational systems, such as Qur’anic and Tsangaya schools, in order to foster moral development, knowledge, and empowerment among the youth.
He further called on Muslims who are financially able to fulfil their religious obligations such as Zakkat (almsgiving), noting that caring for the less privileged is both a spiritual and social responsibility enjoined upon every believer.
> “On behalf of my family and in solidarity with the entire Muslim Ummah, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes for a peaceful, blessed, and spiritually rewarding Maulud celebration to the good people of Kano State and Nigeria at large,” Garo concluded.
His Excellency Murtala Sule Garo’s message resonates with the spirit of the Maulud, urging all Muslims to remain steadfast in faith and united in purpose as they reflect on the virtues of the Holy Prophet (SAW) and apply them in their communities and personal lives.
As the world continues to face multifaceted challenges, his call serves as a timely reminder of the enduring relevance of prophetic wisdom in shaping a just, peaceful, and inclusive society.
