Hon. Aguye Trains 500 Women, Youths in Lokoja Kogi Federal Constituency

Member representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency, Hon. Danladi Sulaiman Aguye has trained and empowered 500 women and youths in Kogi Local Government Area, giving each beneficiary ₦50,000 as start-up capital to begin their chosen businesses.

The training and empowerment programme, held at the Kogi Local Government Secretariat in Koton-Karfe, on Friday, was organised in collaboration with the National Productivity Centre, Zigmond Technology Ltd, and Pronanpet Mega Resources Ltd.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Aguye said the initiative was aimed at tackling unemployment, promoting self-reliance, and stimulating local economic growth.

He explained that the empowerment covered various skills such as tailoring, catering, soap making, and ICT — all designed to help participants become job creators rather than job seekers.

According to him, the gesture was part of his resolve to complement the efforts of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration in improving the welfare of Kogi citizens and enhancing productivity at the grassroots.

He added that empowering women and youths remains one of his top priorities, as they play a vital role in community development and social stability.

Hon. Aguye appreciated the management of the National Productivity Centre and its partners for their collaboration in making the training a success.

He also commended the facilitators for delivering high-quality practical sessions that equipped participants with the knowledge and confidence to start their own ventures.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke during the event praised the lawmaker for his generosity and foresight.

They described the ₦50,000 support fund as a timely intervention that would enable them to translate the skills they acquired into viable sources of income.

One of the beneficiaries, Junmai Salihu, thanked Hon. Aguye for the gesture and described the empowerment as a life-changing opportunity.

She said the support would help her establish a small business and become financially independent, adding that many families would benefit from the initiative.

Dignitaries present at the event included APC leaders, community stakeholders, traditional rulers, and local government officials, all of whom commended Hon. Aguye for his continuous efforts in improving the lives of his constituents.

They noted that the empowerment initiative was a reflection of true representation and a testament to Aguye’s commitment to grassroots development.

Speaking on behalf of the APC stakeholders, Alhaji Maikudi Bature, described Hon. Aguye as a “focused and people-oriented representative” who has continued to deliver tangible results to his constituency.

He urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds provided to build sustainable businesses that would serve as models for others.

In his closing remarks, Hon. Aguye who was represented by his Special Assistant on Special Duty, Comrade Usman Umar, reaffirmed his determination to continue initiating programmes that would empower the people and enhance productivity across his constituency. He urged the beneficiaries to remain dedicated and use the funds wisely to achieve economic independence.

Meanwhile, a similar training and empowerment programme for participants from Lokoja Local Government Area is scheduled for next week.

In the training session, Abu Michael, the Facilitator, said starting a business in Nigeria with ₦50,000 is feasible with the right idea and execution.

He pointed out that low-Capital Business Ideas like Retail Trading, Food Vendors, Phone Accessories sell, Fashion Resale, Digital Services and
Agricultural Products, like Selling vegetables, fruits is possible.

Similarly, Provision Stores, Artisanal Crafts,
Laundry Services and
Event Planning are feasible business.
