Hon. Bashir Gegu Appointed Chairman of Kogi State MIREMCO
The Honourable Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Oladele Henry Alake, has appointed Hon. Abubakar Bashir Gegu as Chairman of the Kogi State National Resources and Environmental Management Committee (MIREMCO).
This appointment, made on behalf of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, follows Hon. Bashir Gegu’s nomination by Kogi State Governor, His Excellency, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo.
Hon. Bashir Gegu, currently serving as Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, will assume his new role as MIREMCO Chairman effective April 8, 2024, for a three (3) year term.
He succeeds Hajiya Suleiman in this position.
MIREMCO is a statutory committee established in each state of the Federation by the Federal Government, pursuant to Section 19 of the Nigerian Minerals and Mining Act 2007.
The committee oversees the management of mineral resources and environmental issues in the state.
