Hon Clement Ofovwi aka General Oloye SA to Governor on Security Matters, Hails Governor Oborevwori For Brokering Final Peace Between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh Communities

In what has been widely described as a historic and unprecedented feat in conflict resolution, Hon. Clement Ofovwi, popularly known as General Oloye, Special Adviser to the Governor of Delta State on Security Matters, has hailed His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his exceptional leadership and diplomatic prowess in brokering what is now considered the final and lasting peace between the long-warring Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh communities in Udu and Warri South West Local Government Areas of Delta State.
In a press statement made available to newsmen in Warri on Saturday, Hon. Clement Ofovwi also known as General Oloye described the peace accord facilitated by Governor Oborevwori as “the most remarkable breakthrough in inter-communal conflict resolution in Delta State’s recent history.”
According to him, the Governor’s relentless commitment, people-first approach, and deep understanding of the grassroots dynamics were instrumental in ending decades of violence, bloodshed, and mutual distrust between the two Ijaw and Urhobo neighboring communities.
“This is not just a peace accord,” General Oloye declared. “This is a generational healing from a grassroot Political General, a bold stride towards a united Delta State. Governor Oborevwori has done what many before him attempted but could not achieve. He has restored hope to our people and rewritten the story of Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh communities with the indelible ink of peace.”
The Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh communal crisis, which has spanned over three decades, was rooted in land dispute, boundary disagreements, and perceived political marginalization. Despite several government interventions, including panels, security deployments, and community dialogues, violent flare-ups continued to disrupt socio-economic activities and claim lives in the area—until Governor Oborevwori like the biblical Daniel came to boker the truce.
General Oloye who has played a central role in security coordination in the state, attributed the breakthrough to Governor Oborevwori’s deliberate multi-stakeholder engagement strategy, sincerity of purpose, and the deployment of an inclusive peace framework that gave voice to both parties.
“His Excellency held countless meetings behind the scenes, engaged royal fathers, youth leaders, women groups, and opinion leaders. He listened to both communities with empathy and treated their concerns with fairness. That is leadership in action,” he stated.
The Governor’s peace plan culminated in a formal peace treaty signed about two months ago at Government House, Asaba, attended by top government officials, security agencies, traditional rulers, and leaders of both communities. Notably, Governor Oborevwori also announced plans for infrastructural development, economic empowerment, and youth engagement in both communities as part of a post-conflict stabilization agenda.
Hon. Clement Ofovwi emphasized that the had earned peace must now be protected with vigilance, development, and mutual respect. He called on all stakeholders, particularly youths, to embrace the opportunity for a new beginning and to reject any attempt by mischief-makers to reignite tensions.
“Peace is not just the absence of war, but the presence of justice, equality, and progress,” he said. “Let us all be guardians of this peace. Governor Oborevwori has shown the way; it is now our duty to follow.”
The news of the final peace between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh has sparked jubilation across Delta State, with civil society groups, traditional institutions, and political leaders commending the Governor for what they called a “masterclass in governance and conflict resolution.”
With this latest success, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has further solidified his reputation as a bridge-builder and peacemaker, whose M.O.R.E. agenda—Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security—continues to resonate with Deltans across all divides.
As the sun rises over the creeks of Warri South West and the farmlands of Udu, a new chapter of peace, prosperity, and unity begins—thanks to a leader who dared to dream of a Delta beyond conflict General Oloye concluded.
