Hon. Tajudeen Ayo Yusuf Pledges More Commitment to the People as He Bags ‘Icon of Public Service and Community Development’ Award

ABUJA — Former Member, House of Representatives, and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Kogi West Senatorial District in the forthcoming general elections in 2027, Hon. Tajudeen Ayo Yusuf, has pledged to deepen his commitment to public service and community development following his recognition as the ‘Icon of Public Service and Community Development’ by Democracy Newsline Newspaper.
The award was presented to him on Wednesday, 19th August 2026, during the 16th Public Lecture and Induction Ceremony held at the Banquet Hall, National Merit House, Abuja.
The event, themed “Economic Reforms and Sustainable Development in a Democracy: The Nigerian Experience,” brought together government officials, traditional rulers, civil society leaders and other stakeholders from across the country.
Presenting the award, the Publisher of Democracy Newsline Newspaper, Chief Olugbemi Femi, said Hon. Yusuf was recognized for his exemplary legislative record, grassroots impact and unwavering advocacy for good governance during his tenure in the National Assembly.
“Hon. Tajudeen Ayo Yusuf distinguished himself as a people’s representative. His interventions in education, health, youth empowerment and infrastructure have continued to impact lives long after leaving office,” Chief Femi stated.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Yusuf dedicated the award to the people of his constituency and to all Nigerians who believe in democratic ideals.
“I receive this honour with humility and gratitude. Public service is about sacrifice, service and impact. This award will only spur me to do more for our people. We must build a Nigeria where democracy translates to better schools, hospitals, jobs and security for every citizen,” he said.
The former lawmaker commended _Democracy Newsline_ for sustaining the platform for 16 years to celebrate excellence and accountability in leadership.
He also called on leaders at all levels to prioritize policies that directly improve the welfare of citizens, especially at the grassroots.
Delivering the keynote address, Hon. Asiwaju Idris Asiru, Kogi State Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, urged leaders to align economic reforms with the needs of the people.
Other eminent Nigerians inducted into the Good Governance Hall of Fame include Hon. Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Senator Sunday Karimi, ESV Olugbenga Collins Rotimi, and Hon. Joshua Monday, Chairman of Yagba East LGA.
The ceremony ended with a call for unity, patriotism and renewed commitment to national development.
