Idris Oluwafemi Rufus Is Our Incoming, Olusanjo Declares in Lagos
By Our Correspondent
A member of the Concerned Youths and Diaspora Support Group for Dr. Idris Oluwafemi Rufus, Olusanjo John Musa, has declared his group’s support for Rufus, describing him as a prospective leader with the capacity, humility and commitment to serve the people.
Olusanjo made the declaration in a statement issued in Lagos, where he reaffirmed the group’s confidence in Rufus and maintained that their support for him remained strong despite criticisms and opposition from some quarters.
Titled “Our Love for Idris Oluwafemi Rufus Is Second to None: Love It or Hate It, He Is Our Incoming,” the statement said the group’s support was based on what it described as Rufus’s leadership qualities, track record and relationship with the people.
According to Olusanjo, Rufus has demonstrated an ability to relate with people across different social and economic backgrounds, adding that his supporters believe he has the qualities required to provide effective leadership.
He described Rufus as a leader who embraces both the young and the old, the rich and the poor, without discrimination, saying this had strengthened the bond between him and his supporters.
The statement further emphasised the need to prioritise competence, character and a record of service in leadership selection rather than sentiments and political propaganda.
“It’s not about noise; it is about capacity. It is not about propaganda; it is about proven track record,” Olusanjo stated.
He also described Rufus as a bridge-builder who, according to him, had demonstrated loyalty, excellence and commitment in previous assignments entrusted to him.
Olusanjo expressed confidence in Rufus’s leadership potential, citing his intelligence, humility and fear of God as qualities that, in the group’s view, distinguish him as a prospective leader.
The group’s representative also claimed that the support for Rufus extended beyond Lagos to supporters at home and in the diaspora, although the statement did not provide figures to substantiate the claim.
He maintained that the group remained resolute in its position and would not be discouraged by criticism or disagreements surrounding Rufus’s anticipated political ambition.
Reaffirming the group’s position, Olusanjo declared that Rufus remained its preferred choice, expressing optimism about his political future.
The statement was signed by Olusanjo John Musa on behalf of the Concerned Youths and Diaspora Support Group for Idris Oluwafemi Rufus in Lagos, Nigeria.
However, the statement did not specify the particular political office Rufus is seeking, the constituency involved or the timeline for the anticipated political contest.
