ILEYA OMO OKUN GENERATIONAL FOUNDATION TAKES CULTURE TO KOGI STATE POLYTECHNIC AS STUDENTS CELEBRATE NAOS DAY WITH OKUN HERITAGE IN DISPLAY
The spirit of culture and unity was on full display at Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, yesterday as the ILEYA OMO OKUN Moko GENERATIONAL FOUNDATION TEAM joined students to celebrate Naos Day in grand style.
The visit was more than just a celebration. It became a powerful showcase of the rich cultural heritage of the Okun people, drawing students, staff, and cultural enthusiasts to the polytechnic grounds.
Highlights of the day included traditional music and dance, exhibitions of Okun Traditional attire, and cuisine, plus storytelling sessions that educated students on the values, history, and resilience of Okunland.
A major high point was a special hangout and royal engagement with the Chief organiser of ileya omo okun homecomingfestival Aare Yeye Omoleye Adebanji Ayelabowo alongside the reigning Omidan Oge of Okunland, whose presence added prestige and authenticity to the event where she interacted with students, blessed the gathering, and commended the foundation for its commitment to preserving and promoting Okun heritage among the younger generation.
Support for Students & Cultural Champions
As part of the celebration, item giveaways were distributed to the student community courtesy of the Office of Omidan Oge 2025, a gesture of support and encouragement to students.
In addition, special gifts ( Okun Traditional Attire) were presented to students who showcased and embodied Okun cultural heritage during the event. The gifts were given to motivate them to keep believing in, learning, and promoting their culture.
The successful outing is seen as another step by the ILEYA OMO OKUN GENERATIONAL FOUNDATION toward an impactful yearly event, proving that when culture and community come together, everyone wins.
