INEC Declares APC Candidate, Engr. Abubakar Ohere Winner Kogi Central Senatorial District

The former Commissioner for Works and Housing in Kogi State, Engr. Abubakar Ohere has emerged the Senator-elect of the central senatorial district of the state.
Ohere who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election, defeated his closest rival and candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Barr. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan with a margin of 324 votes.
According to the result announced by the returning officer, Professor Rotimi Ajayi, the winner Ohere polled 52,087 votes, while Akpoti came second with 51,763 votes.
The election has been adjudged as one of the fiercely contested in the history of the state, with upheavals in the minds of electorates and political analysts.
Ohere, a Mining Engineer, had also served as the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in the first tenure of Yahaya Bello led administration. He hails from Okene Local Government Area of the State.
Speaking after the declaration, Engr. Abubakar Ohere described the victory as victory for all the people of Kogi Central, urged his co contestants to join hands with him in building a virile Senatorial District.
