Insecurity: Ijumu Council Boss Shuts Zango Market In Iyara

Chairman, liumu local government council in Kogi state, Alhaji Haruna Ibrahim, has ordered the immediate closure of Zango cattle market in Iyara.

Speaking with newsmen on Friday, the council chairman explained that the closure followed intelligence reports that kidnappers and other criminal elements have been using the market to carry out their nefarious activities.

It was reliably gathered that after the closure of Zango Markets in some parts of the state, especially in Kogi Central, the criminals moved to lyara.

He noted that he has been mandated by the State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, to eradicate criminal elements that give the local government and state a bad image through kidnapping and banditry activities.

According to him, the safety of the people of ljumu and travelers remains his priority, and anyone or group frustrating government efforts will face the wrath of the law.
