INSECURITY: NORTHERN STATE GOVERNORS FORUM TO PARTNER NGF FOR MORE SUPPORT TO SECURITY AGENCIES IN NIGERIA.

Northern State Governors Forum has resolved to liaise with the Nigerian Governors Forum to increase support to the Security agencies in fighting insecurity in the country.

The resolution was contained in a six point communiqué issued by the NSGF at the end of its joint meeting with Northern State Traditional Rulers Council held at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna.

The communique by the NSGF Chairman and Governor of Gombe State,
Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, after a deliberation on matters of regional interest, particularly security, also indicated that concerted efforts would be made to strengthen peculiar local initiatives in combating all forms of security challenges, particularly in the region.

According to the communiqué, the NSGF has agreed to take urgent steps in setting up inter-State platforms to coordinate surveillance on borders across Northern Nigeria.

While reiterating its support for the creation of State Police, the Forum called on the National Assembly to expedite action on the enactment of legal framework for its take off.

The Forum commended President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his sustained commitment to addressing the security challenges and infrastructural deficits in Northern Nigeria and pledged its unwavering support to ensure success.

30th of August 2025, was slated for the next meeting of the Forum.

Niger State Governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Usman,Etsu Nupe and Chairman Niger State Council of Traditional rulers, Alh. Yahaya Abubakar were part of the meeting.
