International Youth Day: Braimoh Lauds Kogi Youths, Assures Them of Sustainable Development

The Action Alliance (AA) candidate in the November 11 governorship election in Kogi State, Otunba Olayinka Braimoh has commended the youths in the state for their resolve to join hands with him, through his wealth creation agenda to stamp out poverty from the state.

In a statement released from his campaign office in Lokoja this morning, he said,
“This year’s theme for International Youth Day, ‘Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World’ perfectly alligns with my wealth creation and distribution agenda for Kogi youth and the entire citizens of the state”.

“According to the United Nation’s Secretary-General, António Guterres, ‘Humanity depends on the boundless energy, ideas and contributions of youth everywhere. Today and every day, let’s support and stand with young people in shaping a just and sustainable world for people and planets’. The regerative agriculture in my wealth creation (STAT) model is in line with the green skills of the above 2023 UN theme for IYD. Regenerative Agriculture is capable of providing thousands of sustainable employment opportunities for Kogi youths and this will, invariably, stamp out poverty from many families. The all year round plantations in regenerative agriculture will also help, in no small measure, to promote green revolution in the state. In the same vein, insecurity will be tamed because once the youths are gainfully employed, it will be practically impossible to recruit them for thuggery or instigate them to cause violence in the state”

“I have confidence in Kogi youths and their collective ability to make the state proud. This is simply because, in the more than 100 town hall meetings I have held, the youths have not just listened with rapt attention but have contributed immensely towards making the idea take more realistic shape. Kogi youths are definitely able and willing to work but majority of them are under-employed and this is part of what my wealth creation agenda has come to address'”

The International Youth Day (IYD) is a yearly event that comes up on every August 12 to address youth related issues and proferring relevant solutions to them.

The Green transition is expected to result in the creation of 8.4 million jobs for young people globally by 2030. Young people need to be well-equipped with green skills to navigate the ever-changing environment and this is part of the gospel being preached by Braimoh.
