Ohimegye Igu Kotonkarfe Receives Consultant For Establishment of Igu Community Radio
… Says I am in a haste to see the radio station work
The Ohimegye Igu Kotonkarfe and Chairman, Kogi Traditional Council, His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Isah Koto, says he is in a haste to see the first community radio station expected to be situated in Kotonkarfe takes off.
The Paramount Ruler gave the hint when he received in audience the Consultant and Senior Partner, News Partner, IMC Limited, prospective operators of Igu Community Radio at his Palace in Kotonkarfe at the weekend.
The Ohimegye expressed optimism that the new Community Radio station when established will create the needed awareness in informing, educating and entertaining the people of the area.
The Traditional Ruler promised all the needed support for the quick take off of the radio station, promised to provide a suitable land and other enabling environment required for the smooth take off of the radio station.
The Traditional Ruler disclosed that as a Mass Communication and Theatre Arts Graduate, was upbeat of having the radio station take off in the earliest possible time.
In his remarks, Rabiu Ibrahim, Senior Partner, Newspartner IMC Limited said the motivation to establish the Community Radio station was informed by awareness creation, said the peaceful nature of the people of Kotonkarfe equally encouraged the investment.
While pointing out that establishing the radio station after acquiring a suitable land would take about six months or less, said when operational, the radio station like every other community station will inform, educate and entertain the people.
Also in the entourage of the Consultant on the visit was Jafar Bala and Madu Idris other technical partners.
Highpoint of the visit was a meeting between the consultant and the Committee constituted by the Ohimegye Igu Kotonkarfe to work out the details, to determine suitable land for the Radio station.
