IPPSM Endorses Tom T. Inko-Tariah (FIADRN) as Ijaw People’s Choice for Rivers State Governorship in 2027 Under ADC Banner
The Ijaw People’s Political Survival Movement (IPPSM), a grassroots organization dedicated to safeguarding the political interests and aspirations of the Ijaw ethnic nationality in Nigeria, today proudly announces its unwavering endorsement of Tom Inko-Tariah (FIADRN) as the preferred candidate to contest for the office of Governor of Rivers State in the 2027 general elections.
This endorsement comes under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), with Joy Yimebe Nunieh nominated by us as his running mate for Deputy Governor, in a strategic move to ensure the completion of the Ijaw people’s eight-year tenure in the state’s leadership.
Joy Yimebe Nunieh, the former Acting MD, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is a well respected extremely intelligent brilliant charismatic Lawyer, a public servant, and community leader known for principled leadership, advocacy for accountability, and the promotion of Ogoni cultural identity, empowering communities and women across the Niger Delta.
“We the Ijaws have great trust in her abilities and capabilities.”
In light of the ongoing political tensions within the All Progressives Congress (APC), where pro-Wike forces are reportedly maneuvering to deny the incumbent Governor Siminalayi Fubara a second-term ticket, IPPSM views this development as a direct threat to the principles of equity, continuity, and ethnic balance that have long underpinned Rivers State’s governance. Governor Fubara, an Ijaw son, was elected in 2023 to serve the first four years of what should be an uninterrupted eight-year Ijaw mandate, fostering development and unity across the state’s diverse communities.
Denying him the opportunity to complete this tenure would undermine the democratic gains made and risk exacerbating ethnic divisions.
Tom Inko-Tariah (FIADRN), a chartered Arbitrator and a Fellow in the Institute, a visionary leader and youth icon from the Ijaw heartland, embodies the resilience, innovation, and forward-thinking spirit needed to steer Rivers State into a prosperous future.
With a proven track record in community development, economic empowerment, and youth advocacy, Inko-Tariah is uniquely positioned to build on Governor Fubara’s achievements in infrastructure, education, and security. His selection as the Ijaw people’s youth-chosen candidate reflects extensive consultations among Ijaw elders, youth groups, women associations, and stakeholders, who see in him a bridge between generations and a champion for inclusive growth.
Joining Inko-Tariah, as Deputy Governor
Joy Yimebe Nunieh, a distinguished legal expert and anti-corruption crusader whose integrity and passion for justice have earned her widespread respect. Nunieh’s experience in public service, including her notable roles in exposing malfeasance and advocating for transparency, will complement Inko-Tariah’s leadership, ensuring an administration that prioritizes accountability, women’s empowerment, and sustainable development for all Rivers people.
“IPPSM stands firm in its commitment to political survival and equity for the Ijaw nation,” said Chief Jackson Dagogo Jack, National Coordinator of IPPSM.
“Tom Inko-Tariah (FIADRN) and Joy Yimebe Nunieh represent the fresh, dynamic duo that Rivers State needs to complete the Ijaw mandate and deliver on the promises of progress. We call on all patriotic Rivers indigenes, regardless of party affiliation, to rally behind this ticket under the ADC, a party known for its progressive ideals and commitment to grassroots democracy. This is not just about one election; it’s about securing our collective future against divisive forces.”
IPPSM urges the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and the judiciary to ensure a level playing field in the lead-up to 2027, free from intimidation or manipulation. The movement also appeals to Governor Fubara’s supporters and the broader Ijaw community to unite under this banner, transforming potential setbacks into opportunities for renewed strength.
As Rivers State approaches this pivotal moment, IPPSM reaffirms its dedication to non-violent advocacy and democratic processes, working tirelessly to mobilize voters and promote voter education across the state’s 23 local government areas.
