Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu PDP Candidate Chief Femi Olubiyo Condemns Aiyegunle-Igun Bunu Killings, Demands Swift Action from Authorities
The PDP candidate for Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency in the forthcoming general elections in Nigeria, Chief Femi Olubiyo, has condemned the killing and abduction of innocent and defenseless individuals in Aiyegunle-Igun Bunu, Kabba-Bunu LGA, describing the attack as “inhuman and a direct assault on humanity.”
In a statement on Monday, Chief Olubiyo expressed grief over the June 1, 2026 incident where bandits reportedly killed residents and kidnapped several others in the early hours. He extended condolences to bereaved families, the Aiyegunle-Igun Bunu community, and Kabba-Bunu LGA.
“The killing and kidnapping of innocent and defenseless individuals in Aiyegunle-Igun Bunu is unacceptable. No community should live under this kind of fear and bloodshed,” he said.
Chief Olubiyo called on federal and state authorities to act decisively.
He urged security agencies to immediately deploy more personnel, intensify intelligence operations, and rescue all abducted victims unharmed. He also demanded that perpetrators be tracked down and prosecuted to serve as a deterrent.
“Our people have the right to live peacefully on their land. The authorities must rise to this challenge and restore security in Bunu land and across Kogi West. Press statements alone cannot bring back lives or free those in captivity. We need coordinated, visible action now,” the candidate stated.
He further urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security operatives by providing credible information that can aid ongoing rescue efforts.
The attack is the latest in a series of kidnappings reported in Kogi West communities, sparking fresh calls from political leaders for stronger security measures.
