Otunba Olayemi Adeniyi Condemns Attack on Aiyegunle-Igun Bunu, Demands Rescue of Kidnapped Victims
A community leader and philanthropist, Otunba Olayemi Adeniyi has condemned the gruesome attack on Aiyegunle-Igun Bunu in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, calling it a barbaric act that has once again exposed residents to trauma and fear.
In a statement on Monday, the community leader described the assault by suspected bandits as “wicked and unacceptable,” noting that lives were lost and several people were abducted in the early hours of June 1, 2026.
Otunba Adeniyi commiserated with families of the victims, the people of Aiyegunle-Igun Bunu, and the entire Kabba-Bunu LGA.
He prayed for the safe return of all those kidnapped and for strength for bereaved families.
“The attack on Aiyegunle-Igun Bunu by bandits is gruesome and a direct assault on the peace of Bunu land. Our people deserve to live without fear, and this cycle of violence must end,” he said.
He charged security agencies to act swiftly and decisively. “I charge our security agencies to intensify operations, deploy more intelligence, and rescue all those kidnapped without delay. Those behind this criminal act must be tracked down and brought to justice,” Adeniyi urged.
The leader also called on residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security operatives by sharing credible information that can aid rescue efforts and prevent future attacks.
The incident adds to a string of kidnapping cases reported across Kogi West in recent weeks, with community leaders and political actors increasing pressure on government and security forces for coordinated action.
