The Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, Hon. Idris Rufus Femi, popularly known as Idrufem, has described Kabba as the rallying point for all sons and daughters of Okunland, urging them to identify with the community and contribute to its growth and development.
Idris Rufus, Chairman and Managing Director of Peacock Hotel and Resort Kabba, stated this while speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the 2026 Kabba Day Cultural Festival held at the Kabba Township Stadium.
He noted that Kabba occupies a strategic position in the affairs of Okunland, being the headquarters of both Kogi West Senatorial District and the Okun nation, adding that whatever affects Kabba, to a large extent, has implications for the entire Okun community.
According to him, Kabba should be regarded as a rallying point where all Okun sons and daughters, irrespective of their individual communities, should come together to promote unity, love, peace and collective development.
The ADC House of Representatives hopeful explained that his investment in the hospitality sector through Peak Coast Hotel and Resorts was part of his deliberate efforts to contribute to the development of Kabba and the wider Okunland.
He maintained that investing in Kabba was a way of demonstrating his commitment to the economic growth of the community, creating opportunities and supporting the development of the entire Okun nation.
Speaking on the significance of the I Love Kabba symbol, Idris Rufus explained that the initiative was designed to promote love, peace, unity and a stronger sense of belonging among the people.
He stressed that beyond celebrating the community’s cultural heritage, there was a need to encourage peaceful coexistence and collective responsibility towards building a more prosperous Kabba.
He further noted that cultural festivals such as Kabba Day provide valuable opportunities to showcase the rich culture, traditions and historical heritage of the Owe people while bringing sons and daughters of the community together.
The businessman and politician commended the organisers of the 2026 Kabba Day celebration for what he described as an impressive outing, observing that although the 2025 edition was successful, the 2026 celebration recorded further improvements in organisation, participation and cultural display.
On his political ambition, Idris Rufus appealed to the people of Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency to support his candidacy and vote massively for him in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
He promised that, if elected into the House of Representatives, he would provide robust, effective and outstanding representation, prioritising the interests of his constituents and championing initiatives that would accelerate development across the federal constituency.
He also emphasised the need for purposeful leadership, quality representation and people-oriented policies capable of improving the living conditions of the people.
Idris Rufus reiterated his commitment to the progress of Kabba and the entire Okunland, stressing that the development of the community requires the collective commitment of its sons and daughters, both at home and in the diaspora.
