Kano State govt withdraws accreditation of 14 Journalists

The Kano State Government has withdrawn the accreditation of 14 journalists covering the Government House, effective immediately.
Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, the spokesman to the governor, communicated this decision via a message, instructing the affected journalists to report back to their respective organizations for replacement nominations.
Though no official reason was provided, several underlying factors have been suggested. A notable incident last week involved an altercation between the Government House press crew and DSS operatives at the Jigawa Government House, when the Kano governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, was on a condolence visit.
Additionally, press crew members reportedly sought an audience with the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, during a recent visit to Kano, which may have contributed to dissatisfaction within the Kano Government House.
Further reports indicate that long-standing issues, including the handling of a journalist’s injury by a stray bullet and restrictions on reporting certain events at the seat of power, could have influenced the decision.
Efforts to reach Sanusi Bature for comments have so far been unsuccessful.
