Kogi ’23: Kogi PDP Suffers More Depletion as Awoniyi Joins APC

By Fancy Media Team (FMT)

Another shocking wave has been sent to the camp of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State as former Deputy Governor and stalwart of the party in Kogi West Senatorial District, Arc Yomi Awoniyi formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC)

Arc. Awoniyi was yesterday led to the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC ) in Abuja by Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello where the National Chairman of the APC, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, formally received him into his party.

The former PDP chieftain who was reported to have referenced Governor Yahaya Bello’s purposeful leadership as the basis for his decision, said the Governor has displayed the rare ability to unite and manage people of diverse origins, adding that such traits have caused an exodus of members of the opposition parties into the governing All Progressives Congress (APC)

The National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje who eulogized Governor Yahaya Bello for exemplifying astute leadership in Kogi State assured Arc Awoniyi of equal treatment in APC.

Having served as Deputy Governor of Kogi State from 2011 to 2015, Dr. Ganduje expressed confidence in Arc Awoniyi’s ability to bring his wealth of experience in Kogi politics to bear in order to record yet another success for the APC in the forthcoming governorship election.

Penultimate week, Fancy Media Team (FMT) exclusively obtained a letter by Arc Yomi Awoniyi where he intimated his former political party, PDP of his decision to withdraw his membership.

The resignation letter as obtained by FMT partly reads: “I hereby write to tender my resignation from the People’s Democratic Party, after 25 unbroken years of loyalty and dedicated membership and service.

“With this resignation, I cease to be a member of the PDP. Kindly convey my sincere gratitude to the party faithful in Mopamuro LGA, Kogi West Senatorial District and indeed, the entire Kogi State through your fellow LGA party chairmen for their support and camaraderie over the years”

The authorities of the Fancy Media Team have therefore implored all citizens of Kogi State to as a matter of collective responsibility and patriotism, key behind the APC candidate as his victory is becoming more glaring on a daily basis.
