KOGI GOVT TO PASS OUT 530 FOREST GUARDS ON SATURDAY AS PART OF STRATEGY TO COMBAT INSECURITY
The Kogi State Government has announced plans to hold the Passing Out Parade of 530 newly trained personnel of the Nigeria Forest Security Service, NFSS, as part of efforts to strengthen security across the state.
In a public announcement issued on Tuesday by the Office of the State Security Adviser, the government said the forest guards have completed intensive training and are ready to consolidate on the gains of the current administration in tackling insecurity.
The statement, signed by the Kogi State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), described the ceremony as “another milestone in the ongoing fight against insecurity in our dear state.”

According to the announcement, the Passing Out Parade will hold as follows:
– Date: Saturday, 1st August 2026
– Venue: Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre, Lokoja
– Time: 10:00am prompt
The event will be performed by the Chief Servant of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.
Commander Omodara said the deployment of the NFSS personnel marks _“a new dawn for security in Kogi State and another demonstration of the Chief Servant’s commitment to reclaiming our forests from criminals who have used them to perpetrate their nefarious acts.”_
He added that the trained Forest Guards will work in synergy with other security agencies to secure forests, farmlands, highways, and rural communities across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.
The government invited members of the public, traditional rulers, community leaders, and other stakeholders to witness the ceremony.
