Kogi Guber: Kogi Assembly Speaker tasks Okun Land on APC Success

The speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf has charged stakeholders in the APC across Okun Land not to leave any stones unturned to ensure the victory of the APC and its candidate in the next gubernatorial election in the scheduled for November 11, 2023.
Rt. Hon Yusuf stated this when the member representing Kabba/Bunu State Constituency in the Assembly, Hon Seyi Bello hosted the speaker and other members at his home in Kabba shortly after the official unveiling of the Okun United for Ododo Project on Saturday 8th July, 2023.
The legislators were flanked by youths and other stakeholders in the APC at the legislators’ residence.
Addressing the youths at the occasion, the speaker reminded them on the need to solidify their support for the party and the candidature of Alhaji Ododo Usman Ahmed.
He said the aspiration to ensure Ododo wins in November is predicated on the show of sincerity by the government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello through the current 8th state Assembly where they gave speedy consideration to the piece of legislation for the establishment of the latest University in the State, the Kogi State University, Kabba.
He said the reason for giving the institution necessary legislative backing was to ensure it sees the light of day to emphasize the fight for justice and equity in the state as canvassed by Governor Yahaya Bello was demonstrated.
The Speaker charged the legislator from the area and his colleagues from Okun Land to ensure a sweeping victory for the APC in the governorship election, noting that it is the only way to ensure continued provision of democracy dividend across the state, stressing that the current Assembly would always give consideration to any matter that is in the interest of the people.
He used the opportunity to clear the air on the allegation in some quarters that they were induced by the Executive to give speedy action to the law establishing the Kabba varsity, clarifying that it was done for posterity’s sakes.
Rt. Hon Yusuf then applauded Hon Bello for making himself available whenever he was needed for official duties, stressing that the Assembly needs his type to move the legislature forward.
He expressed hope that the gesture of hosting each other could become a norm among them across the three Senatorial Districts of Kogi State to entrench bond and unity among them.
Speaking, Hon Seyi Bello who represents Kabba/Bunu State Constituency expressed gratitude to the speaker and other members for giving him the opportunity to host them, saying he felt privileged to be the first member to host the head of the legislature among his colleagues.
The legislator said despite being one of the youngest in the Assembly, his colleagues have been treating him as a colleague and friend, just as he prayed for the sustenance of their bond and friendliness.
On his part, the member representing Ajaokuta State Constituency, Hon Jibril Abu thanked his colleagues for their camaraderie and expressed hope that he would have the opportunity to also host the speaker at his home from the Central Senatorial District.
