Kogi International Airport: Okun League of Progressive Elites Commend Governor Ododo’s Foresight
The Director-General of the Okun League of Progressive Elites, Barrister Alfred Bello, has commended Governor Usman Ododo for his foresight in establishing an international airport in Kogi State, saying it will boost the state’s socio-economic development.
He said it is a common knowledge that an airport is a viable institution that brings development to a state through job creation and revenue generation.
He stressed that given the presence of two giant cement companies in Africa, the Ajaokuta Steel Company, and ceramic industries on the soil of Kogi state, it is unimaginable that the state has been without an airport.
He further noted that the Kogi International Airport will enable investors to fly directly into the state from across the world, without having to stop over in Lagos or Abuja, which usually discourages them from coming.
“The airport, when operational, will be fed by Abuja Airport due to its proximity, and many travelers will see it as an alternative due to congestion in Abuja”
“The significance of an airport in a state is evident when comparing states with airports to those without”
Barrister Bello said that Kogi State now has three universities, federal and state polytechnics, and colleges of education, added that students and parents traveling from Lagos, Kano, or Port Harcourt to resume school or visit their children will no longer have to fly to Abuja Airport and then embark on a three-hour journey to Kogi State.
“I, therefore, enjoin all Kogites to give our visionary Governor the needed support for the development of Kogi State”
