‎FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
‎
‎KOGI LG POLLS: SENATOR SMART ADEYEMI CONGRATULATES APC CANDIDATES ON RESOUNDING VICTORY
‎…SAYS TRIUMPH IS A REFERENDUM FOR NEXT YEAR’S GENERAL ELECTIONS
‎
‎Following the official declaration of the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC), prominent leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former representative of Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Smart Adeyemi, has extended his warmest congratulations to all the newly elected Local Government Chairmen across the 21 LGAs and the 239 Councillors who secured a sweeping victory for the party
‎
‎In a statement issued on Sunday, October 18, 2026, Senator Adeyemi described the landslide victory as an undeniable testament to the deep-rooted acceptance of the party and a well-deserved reward for administrative excellence at the grassroots.
‎
‎”This total victory is not a fluke; it is a direct reflection of the exceptional good works, dedication, and footprints of service left by our chairmen and stakeholders across the 21 Local Government Areas.
‎
‎”Our people have spoken with clarity, validating the progressive governance that the APC represents at the foundational level of our society.”
‎
‎The Senator emphasized that the overwhelming triumph was heavily accelerated by the visible, impactful footprint of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo. He noted that the heavy execution of infrastructural developments across the state created an unstoppable momentum for the party’s candidates.
‎
‎”I want to specially commend the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his visionary leadership. The rapid infrastructural transformations, citizen-centric policies, and the undeniable presence of his administration in every nook and cranny of Kogi State served as our biggest campaign weapon. Governor Ododo has shown that good governance is the ultimate political strategy, and this victory belongs to his leadership as much as it belongs to the electorate.”
‎
‎Looking ahead to upcoming political cycles, Senator Adeyemi declared that this local government election serves as a clear, definitive blueprint for the state’s political trajectory.
‎
‎”Let it be known to all political observers that this council election is a profound referendum on the future of our state and country. The outcome of this weekend’s exercise is a crystal-clear projection of how the Presidential election, the general elections, and the upcoming Kogi governorship election will be decided next year. Kogi is completely locked down for the APC, and the opposition has been sent a message that there is no vacancy for retrogressive politics in our state.”
‎
‎Senator Adeyemi charged the newly elected local government officials to see their victory not just as a celebration, but as an immediate call to higher responsibility.
‎
‎”The mandate given to you is sacred. I charge all newly elected council chairmen and councillors to immediately hit the ground running. You must put in your absolute best, justify the enormous trust reposed in you by Governor Ododo and the electorate, and ruthlessly prioritize the delivery of the dividends of democracy to every household in Kogi State. Grassroots development must be your topmost agenda.
‎
‎”As we prepare for the 2027 elections, our collective unity and forgiveness for all party members is foundermental and non negotiable!!”
‎End
‎
