KOGI POLY NAKOSS COMMISSIONS RELAXATION, NAMES AFTER RECTOR
The National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS), Kogi State Polytechnic chapter, has commissioned the newly erected relaxation centre which it names “Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman Relaxation Centre”, in honour of the Polytechnic Rector, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman.
The commissioning ceremony, which was held on Friday 6th July, 2024, at the Main Campus of the Polytechnic, near the female hostels, was attended by Principal Officers of the Polytechnic and some Kogi State Government officials.
The NAKOSS President, Comrade Adekunle Kuburat, said the relaxation centre was built to provide a conducive environment for students to relax and study.
She added that it was named after the Rector as a mark of honour for his visionary leadership, tireless commitment, and invaluable contributions to the institution’s growth and development.
She highlighted the Association’s notable achievements under her leadership, including the replacement of whiteboards in Halls M2, A2, R1, R3, and the Computer Science Hall, the renovation of signboards showcasing the Institution’s values, provision of solar streetlights at the Itakpe campus, and the erection of the students’ Relaxation Centre.
She expressed her gratitude to the Polytechnic management and NAKOSS executive for their collaborative efforts in bringing the project to fruition.
The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, ably represented by the Deputy Rector, Dr. Samuel Taiwo Olowo, commended the NAKOSS President and executive for their visionary leadership and commitment to leaving a lasting legacy, while also eulogizing the patron and matron for their invaluable support and guidance, which collectively led to the achievement of a laudable feat.
He commended the NAKOSS leadership for their prudent management of resources, a trait he noted was inspired by the Rector’s exemplary financial management, which has earned him several awards for effectively managing the Polytechnic’s funds.
He congratulated the NAKOSS leadership for the feats, and praised their hard work, dedication, and vision that made the commissioning of the Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman Relaxation Centre a reality.
The principal Officers, in their goodwill messages, unanimously urged successive administrations to build upon the remarkable achievements just as they commend the President for exemplary leadership, value addition, and earning Management’s applause, which they noted will endure long after their tenure.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Kogi State on Youth Mobilization, Honourable Abdulkadir Destiny and the National Director of the Peace and Conflict Directorate of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Comrade Michael Achor Joshua, praised the President and her executives for their outstanding leadership in erecting a magnificent edifice for the students.
They expressed their admiration for the administration’s commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for student success.
Highlights of the commissioning ceremony was the official decoration of Engineer Abdullahi Ayni Adamu as the Patron and Dr. (Mrs) Ayodele Oluwakemi as the Matron of the National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS), and an award of honour to the Dean, Directorate of Students’ Services, Dr John Aliyu in recognition of their invaluable support, commitment, and guidance to the Association.

and my fellow students,
Good morning to you all.
Today marks a significant milestone in our journey together as we gather to commission this wonderful project in honour of our leader, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman. This moment is a testament to the power of collaboration, dedication and vision.
Firstly, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the energetic, dynamic and result oriented brand new Rector, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman who has been my role model and the school management for their immense contribution to the success of not the project alone but the association at large. I want to say a big thank you to you
all.
Secondly, I would like to appreciate the efforts of the Dean Student Services, Dr John Adaviruku Alyu, Director of works and services, Engineer Adamu Abdullahi Anyi and the Director of Physical planning, Mr Idoko Ojonumi Felix towards the construction and building of this awesome project, I cannot take your contributions for granted and I say a big thank you.
Lastiy, to the executive of NAKOSS,I would like to appreciate you for your cooperation, efforts, hard work and dedication towards the success of this project. Thank you.
This project represent more than just a physical structure or a new initiative. It embodies our association’s values mission and purpose. It symbolizes our unwavering commitment towards the care for students well-being and to promote academic Success.
So far the National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS), Kogi Polytechnic Chapter has successfully achieved projects in our noble Institution such as;
1. Replacement of white boards in various halls(Hall M2,A2,R1,and R3 and computer science Hall).
2. Renovation of signboards that indicate the values of our dynamic institution.
3. Provision of solar street light to our campus at Itakpe in order to luminate the campus for the safety and security of students.
4. Building of student’s relaxation center that we are here to commission today.
All this could not have been achieved, without the support of our amiable and workaholic Rector , the school management, NAKOSS Executives and the overall students at large.
Let us celebrate this achievement but also recognize the responsibility that comes with it. Let us continue to work together to ensure the success and sustainability of this project.
Congratulations and may this project be a beacon of hope and progress for generations to come.
