Kogi Poly Rector Backs North Central TETFund Town Hall, Hails Tinubu’s Education Reforms

The Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Prof. Salihu Sanusi Avidime, has called for sustained collaboration among education stakeholders in the North Central region to accelerate the development of tertiary education.

Avidime made the call at the 2026 Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) Town Hall Meeting held at the Banquet Hall of the Kogi State Government House, Lokoja.

The meeting, convened by the TETFund Board of Trustees member representing the North Central geopolitical zone, Dr Hassan Abdulrahman Ocholi, was themed: “The Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Its Impact on Tertiary Institutions in the North Central Geopolitical Zone.”

The rector commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as strategic investments in education under the Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly through sustained TETFund interventions.

He said the interventions had continued to provide critical support for infrastructure, academic development and institutional capacity building, adding that they represented important investments in Nigeria’s human capital.

Avidime also commended Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his commitment to education and support for tertiary institutions in the state.

He noted that stronger collaboration between the state government and federal education agencies had created opportunities for institutional development and improved learning environments.

The rector described the town hall initiative as timely and strategic, saying it provided an opportunity for stakeholders to identify challenges, explore opportunities and develop practical solutions for tertiary institutions across the region.

He said the platform could help unlock targeted infrastructure development, strengthen academic programmes and position institutions in the North Central to benefit more effectively from federal interventions.

Avidime pledged the readiness of Kogi State Polytechnic to collaborate with TETFund, the Kogi State Government and other tertiary institutions in the region to advance the objectives of the initiative.

He stressed that sustained collaboration, knowledge sharing and collective advocacy were essential to achieving greater infrastructural development, academic excellence and institutional growth.

The meeting was attended by government officials, traditional rulers and chief executives of tertiary institutions from the six North Central states and the Federal Capital Territory.
