Kogi Power Rotation Summit to promote political inclusion, shared prosperity

The Kogi Power Rotation Summit, themed “Rotation Kogi for Unity & Shared Prosperity,” is set to hold on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, in Lokoja, Kogi State, with stakeholders expected to deliberate on political inclusion, equity and the future of leadership in the state.
The summit will take place at the KAY Galvaxy Event Centre, opposite the Civil Defence Office, Zone 8, Lokoja, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

The event will be chaired by Vice-Admiral Joseph Ajayi (Rtd.), former Chief of Defence Intelligence of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The summit is designed as a platform for constructive engagement among stakeholders and citizens on how a fair and balanced approach to political leadership can strengthen unity, peaceful coexistence and development across Kogi State.
Organisers said the concept of power rotation goes beyond the sharing of political offices, stressing that it is aimed at ensuring that different parts of the state feel a sense of belonging and have meaningful opportunities to participate in leadership.
They added that the principle seeks to promote fairness, inclusion, mutual trust and political stability while emphasising that rotation must be complemented by competence, integrity, accountability, capacity and commitment to the welfare of residents.
Royal fathers expected at the summit include HRM Alaji Mathew Opaluwa Attah of Igala; HRM (Alhaji) Tijani Mohammed Anaje, Ohinoyi of Ebiraland; and HRM Oba (Dr) Solomon Owoniyi, Obaro of Kabba.
The spiritual heads of the event are Special Apostle Adebayo Emmanuel, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kogi State, and Sheikh Salman Adam, Chief Imam of Ankpa and Chairman of the Council of Ulamau, Kogi State.
With the theme “Rotation Kogi for Unity & Shared Prosperity,” the summit is expected to generate discussions on how political inclusion can contribute to improved governance, balanced development and a stronger sense of collective ownership of Kogi’s future.
As the state continues to shape its political direction, organisers said the gathering provides an opportunity for stakeholders to engage in a mature conversation on equity, unity and the collective destiny of Kogi State.
