The ancient and historic city of Ile-Ife witnessed a remarkable convergence of royalty, culture, tradition and political influence as prominent Okun personalities, led by His Royal Majesty, Oba Muyiwa Ibeun, the Elulu of Mopa and Chairman, Mopamuro Traditional Council, and Asiwaju Prince Olatunji Olusoji, the Asiwaju of Ayere Kingdom in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State and Chairman, Goveronos Group of Companies, graced the royal naming ceremony and homecoming of the twin princes of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife.

The prestigious ceremony, held at the Ooni’s Palace in Ile-Ife, attracted an array of traditional rulers, political leaders, prominent business personalities, community leaders, cultural stakeholders, family members and distinguished guests from across the country.

The appearance of Oba Ibeun and Asiwaju Prince Olusoji at the historic royal gathering was particularly significant, placing a strong and distinguished Okun presence at an occasion celebrating one of the foremost traditional institutions in Yorubaland.

Oba Muyiwa Ibeun, the Elulu of Mopa, brought to the ceremony the dignity and authority of the traditional institution in Okunland.

As Chairman of the Mopamuro Traditional Council, the monarch occupies an important position in the traditional affairs of Mopamuro Local Government Area and remains a prominent voice in the preservation of the customs, values and unity of the Okun people.

His participation in the Ooni’s royal ceremony was therefore seen as more than a ceremonial appearance, reflecting the enduring cultural bonds that connect Okunland with the broader Yoruba traditional family.

The monarch joined fellow traditional rulers and distinguished guests in celebrating the royal family, while offering goodwill and prayers for the newborn princes.

Also commanding attention at the ceremony was Asiwaju Prince Olatunji Olusoji, the Asiwaju of Ayere Kingdom in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

A respected philanthropist, community leader and businessman, Prince Olusoji is the Chairman of Goveronos Group of Companies and has continued to attract recognition for his contributions to community development and humanitarian causes.

His presence at the Ooni’s Palace further underscored his strong affinity with traditional institutions and his commitment to cultural values, community development and the unity of the Yoruba people.

Asiwaju Prince Olusoji joined the gathering to felicitate with the Ooni and members of the royal household on the arrival of the twin princes and to identify with the cultural significance of the historic occasion.

The royal naming ceremony provided a spectacular display of Yoruba cultural heritage, bringing together influential figures and traditional authorities in an atmosphere of celebration, prayers and goodwill.

The event also served as a powerful reminder of the role of traditional institutions in preserving cultural identity and fostering unity among the people.

Guests celebrated the royal twins and offered prayers for their good health, wisdom, longevity, prosperity and a life of service to humanity.

The presence of the Elulu of Mopa and Chairman, Mopamuro Traditional Council, alongside the Asiwaju of Ayere Kingdom, reinforced the cultural and traditional ties between Okunland and Ile-Ife, regarded as the cradle of Yoruba civilisation.

For the Okun community, the participation of Oba Ibeun and Asiwaju Prince Olusoji at such a prestigious royal occasion represented not only a celebration of the Ooni’s family but also a reaffirmation of Okunland’s place within the wider Yoruba cultural and traditional family.

The ceremony ended in an atmosphere of joy and royal splendour, with dignitaries and guests joining the Ooni and his household in welcoming the twin princes and celebrating the historic addition to the royal family.
