KOGI STATE GETS JUSTICE: Hon Alfred Bello Hails Court Judgement on Restoration of Suppressed Constituencies
Lokoja – The Director General of the Okun League of Progressive Elites, Hon Alfred Bello, has hailed the judgment delivered today at the Federal High Court, Lokoja, ordering the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct elections into the suppressed State Constituencies in Kogi State.
He said the landmark decision marks the end of a 21-year battle for justice and equal representation in the state.
Hon Bello, who spearheaded the fight for electoral justice, recalled that he had moved a motion in 2005, calling on INEC to implement the constitutional requirement of having 3-4 House of Representatives members to a State Assembly.
Unfortunately, the motion was suppressed by some cabals who didn’t want equal representation in the state.
The court judgement is a testament to the unwavering commitment of His Excellency, Alhaji Usman Ododo, and the legal team, who worked tirelessly to ensure fearless and equal representation in the State House of Assembly.
Hon Bello praised their doggedness and dedication to the cause, stating that their efforts have finally paid off.
In a statement, Hon Bello urged INEC not to appeal the judgement, citing justice, equity, and fairness. “It’s time for Kogi State to have its due representation,” he said. “We call on INEC to comply with the court order and conduct elections into the suppressed constituencies without further delay.”
The Okun League of Progressive Elites congratulates the people of Kogi State on this victory and looks forward to a new era of equal representation and development in the state.
