Kogi State Government Mourns Victims of Ibaji Boat Mishap

The Kogi State Government has received with deep sadness the news of a tragic boat mishap that occurred on the River Niger, involving traders traveling from Ibaji Local Government Area to Ilushi market in Edo State.
According to reports, the incident has allegedly claimed the lives of not less than 26 passengers.
Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families and directed relevant agencies to provide immediate support and relief to those affected.
The State Government has assured that it will intensify ongoing efforts to improve safety measures on waterways to prevent a recurrence of such a tragedy.
In a statement signed by Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo, Commissioner for Information and Communications, the government called on residents, especially those in riverine communities, to prioritize safety by avoiding overloading and using life jackets.
The government stands in solidarity with the people of Ibaji Local Government Area during this difficult time.
