Kogi State Govt to Develop Roadmap for Actualization of Human Capital Devt Initiatives

The Kogi State Government is set to formulate a comprehensive roadmap for the realization of human capital development Programs.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has recently established the Human Capital Development Council, appointing his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu, as the Chairman. The council comprises Commissioners of Health, Education, Finance, Women Affairs, Donor Agencies, and Senior Civil Servants as members.

During the inaugural meeting of the council, on Tuesday, Comrade Joel Salifu, the Deputy Governor of Kogi State and Chairman of the Council, emphasized the necessity of creating a viable framework for the success of the program in the state.

He emphasized the importance for council members to familiarize themselves with strategies to achieve the set objectives and address challenges facing the state.

The Council is primarily focused on three key areas: Health and Nutrition, Education, and Labor Force Participation. Comrade Joel Salifu reiterated that the program would offer significant benefits to the populace.

The Deputy Governor commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for entrusting the council members with the responsibility to serve, expressing confidence that the vision of the current administration in the state will be realized.

Ealier in his opening remark, Dr. Abdullahi Sani Ozamata, the Council focal person, stated that the Human Capital Development Council was established in 2018 under the office of the vice president to support the State in accomplishing crucial goals within the human capital development agenda.

He highlighted that critical human concerns such as under-five mortality rate, malnutrition, adult mortality, expected years of schooling, quality of education, and youth labor force participation rate are the focal points of the council.

Dr. Abdullahi Sani Ozamata expressed gratitude to the governor and his Deputy for appointing him as the state focal person of the council and the Chairman of the Technical Working Group of the program. He pledged to uphold the trust placed in them.

The meeting’s highlight was the inauguration of the Kogi State Human Capital Development Technical Working Group chaired by Dr. Abdullahi Sani Ozamata, with Commissioners for Health, Education, Labor, Youth and Sports, Women Affairs, and Directors; Planning, Research and Statistics, as members.
