The Kogi State Police Command has officially kicked off this year’s Police Week with a health and fitness exercise aimed at promoting physical well-being, endurance, and teamwork among officers. The event held in the early hours of today, was led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, psc who spearheaded a jogging session across major routes in Lokoja.

The jogging exercise saw enthusiastic participation from Police officers serving across various Divisions in the State, including members of the Command’s Management Team. Officers jogged through strategic parts of the city, fostering a sense of unity, discipline, and commitment to service.

Speaking after the session, CP Dantawaye emphasized the importance of regular physical fitness for law enforcement officers, stating that good health and endurance directly impact operational efficiency. He urged officers to make exercise a routine part of their lifestyle, reinforcing that a physically fit police force is better equipped to handle security challenges effectively.

“The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has continued to emphasize the need for excellence in Policing, and part of achieving that is ensuring that our officers are in top physical and mental shape. This exercise is not just about fitness; it is about preparedness, resilience, and dedication to duty,” CP Dantawaye stated.

The Commissioner commended the officers for their participation and reiterated the command’s commitment to fostering a culture of discipline, professionalism, and service to the people of Kogi State.

As part of the Police Week activities, the command has lined up a series of events, including community engagement programs, lectures on security and ethics, awards for outstanding officers, and other initiatives aimed at strengthening police-community relations. The week-long event will culminate in a grand celebration recognizing the sacrifices and contributions of police officers in maintaining law and order.
