Kogi West 2027: Senator Sunday Karimi’s Track Record Makes Him the Best Option
Senator Sunday Karimi, representing Kogi West Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Senate Services, is well-positioned to return to the Senate in 2027.
His re-election bid is gaining momentum, with many citing his impressive track record in education, security, employment, and economic empowerment.
A seasoned lawmaker with two terms in the House of Representatives (7th and 8th Assembly) and a first term in the Senate, Karimi has proven his mettle in legislative work and representation.
He has consistently raised the bar of representation for Kogi West at the national level, making a strong case for continuity.
Some of his notable achievements include:
– Constructing a Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Egbe, Yagba West, to combat cross-border crimes and kidnapping, and supporting new police posts.
– Education: Allocating ₦300 million for transforming Titcombe College, Egbe, into a modern computer-based testing centre, and building/equipping CBT halls.
He disbursed ₦100 million for 1,000 students in the 2024/2025 academic session and ₦300 million for 3,000 students in the 2025/2026 session.
– Economic Empowerment: Disbursing ₦100 million to 50 women’s cooperatives, providing business training, and supporting farmers with fertilizers, seedlings, and processing equipment.
– Infrastructure: Investing over ₦2 billion in projects across Kogi West, including roads, bridges, and water schemes. Remodeling of the Government Science Secondary School, Koton Karfe in Kogi local government with over #1.2billion, the project has since be completed, as the construction of 85 solar powered borehole one in each of the wards in the district.
– Distributing food items worth over ₦300 million to support families during Ramadan and Lent.
Karimi’s legislative work is also noteworthy, with bills aimed at enhancing transparency in monetary policy management and anti-corruption frameworks.
As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Senate Services, he has leveraged his influence to attract federal projects to Kogi West.
His commitment to grassroots development and accessibility has earned him respect from constituents, who praise his integrity, courage, and fairness.
With Kogi West’s Senate seat historically rotating among its three major axes, Karimi’s re-election would maintain balance and fairness.
