Kogi West Group Slams Chief Richard Asaje Over Attacks on Senator Karimi
A group identified as Kogi West Concerned Group has condemned Chief Richard Asaje, self-acclaimed National Coordinator/ Convener of the non-existent Like Minds Alliance Pressure Group, over his baseless attacks on Senator Sunday Karimi.
In a statement signed by Prof. Daniel Bonire, the group described Asaje’s allegations as false and baseless.
The group clarified that Senator Karimi was invited to the 2025 Kabba Day Cultural Festival as a special guest, where he spoke about unity and progress for Kogi West and Kogi State.
The senator’s comments on the pressing issue of Kogi West producing the next governor of the state in 2027, after 34 years of state creation without a governor from the district, are well-timed and justified.
Asaje’s criticism that the senator chose the wrong place and time to express his views is unfounded. Kabba, being the senatorial and Okun nation headquarters, is a fitting platform for the senator to articulate the aspirations and concerns of the people.
It’s laughable that Chief Asaje would suggest otherwise. Where else would the senator have expressed his patriotic sentiments, if not in Kabba?
The senator’s message resonates with the people, and Chief Asaje’s reaction only highlights his own disconnect from the issues that matter to the people of Kogi West.
The group expressed disappointment that Asaje is more interested in stirring up division than working towards the collective good of the people.
They noted that Senator Karimi’s commitment to serving the people of Kogi West with integrity and dedication is unwavering, and that he will not compromise his values or integrity for political expediency.
Chief Asaje, who claims to be a man of God, appears more interested in lining his pockets and satisfying his personal interests than genuinely serving the people of Okun/Kogi West.
The group also defended Senator Karimi’s emphasis on fairness, equity, and justice in the zoning arrangement, describing it as a well-known concept in Kogi politics. They urged Asaje and his group to refrain from making baseless attacks and instead focus on constructive engagement.
The development has sparked reactions from various stakeholders, with some commending Senator Karimi for his forthrightness and others calling for calm and dialogue.
