Kogi West: Karimi Calls For Forgiveness, Grassroots Mobilisation Ahead Of 2027 Polls
Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Steve Sunday Karimi, has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to remain united ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Karimi made the call on Sunday at a town hall meeting held at the GYB Civic Centre, Isanlu, Yagba East Local Government Area, with the theme, “Continuity for Sustainable Development in Kogi West Senatorial District.”
The meeting drew APC leaders, stakeholders, women and youth groups from Yagba East, Yagba West and Mopa-Amuro local government areas.

The senator said the meeting was part of his ongoing reconciliation efforts across the seven local government areas of Kogi West, describing unity as the party’s greatest asset.
He thanked party members for their support during the APC senatorial primary and said internal disagreements had been resolved.
“I remain a loyal APC member. Whatever differences existed have been resolved. It is only through unity that we can achieve victory in the next election,” he said.
Karimi urged members to forgive one another and place the party’s interest above personal differences, adding that leaders should be willing to acknowledge their mistakes where necessary.
He pledged to attract more constituency projects and build on achievements recorded since assuming office in 2023.
The senator also appealed to residents to shun political violence and support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the Federal Government was taking practical steps to improve security nationwide.
On education, he announced plans to expand bursary and scholarship programmes for students across the district.
Earlier, the APC Zonal Chairman for Kogi West, Hon Ayo Emmanuel Aledare urged members to sustain grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 polls.
Speaking on behalf of the three local government councils, the Chairman of Mopa-Amuro Local Government, Hon. Ademola Bello, said party members were free to support aspirants during primaries but must unite behind the party’s eventual candidate. “As leaders of the party, we are committed to supporting Senator Karimi and all APC candidates in the 2027 elections,” he said.
The Executive Chairman of Yagba East Local Government, Hon. (Dr.) Joshua Dare Monday; the Chairman of Yagba West Local Government, Hon. Tosin Olokun; and other APC leaders attended the meeting.
Goodwill messages from stakeholders centred on party unity and support for President Tinubu and APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
Karimi also paid a courtesy visit to the Paramount Ruler of Isanlu, His Royal Majesty Oba Moses Babatunde Etombi, the Agbana of Isanlu.
Speaking at the meeting, Mrs.Olamide Anisoro described the town hall as an accountability forum and commended the senator’s performance over the past three years, citing interventions in education, scholarships, youth and women empowerment, employment, healthcare, infrastructure and security. Addressing journalists after the meeting, Karimi said the town hall was organised to strengthen party unity, engage directly with constituents and present an account of his stewardship.
He called on the people of Kogi West to vote massively for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that the APC would secure victory through unity and sustained grassroots mobilisation.
“The essence of this meeting is to carry everyone along, listen to the people and consolidate on the progress we have made. I urge our people to come out in large numbers and vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates in 2027. Our focus remains the development of Kogi West and the continued success of our party,” he said.
