Kogi Youths Pay Gratitude Visit to Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Audu Over Recent Employment of Over 300 Personnel
…Pledge Support for President Tinubu’s Re-Election Bid
Youths from Kogi State who benefited from the recent employment exercise under the Federal Ministry of Steel Development on Wed, May 6, 2026, paid a thank you visit to the Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, to present him with their employment letters at his office in Abuja.
The beneficiaries, who are among the over 300 young Nigerians recently recruited into agencies within the Ministry, said the visit was to personally appreciate the Minister for what they described as his “clear commitment to inclusive representation and youth empowerment”. They added that beneficiaries from other states across the country share the same sense of gratitude.
The employment initiative is part of ongoing efforts by the Federal Government under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR to revitalise the steel sector and expand job opportunities.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed profound gratitude to the Honourable Minister for the opportunity to serve in the Nigerian Civil Service after many years of graduating without securing employment.
Mrs Onugwa Ajih, a newly recruited technical staff of the National Steel Council, commended the Honourable Minister for ensuring a smooth and transparent recruitment process. “I graduated over 18 years ago. I am qualified, but I have never gotten a job. This is the first time I have been opportuned to be employed” she said.
Similarly, Mr. Yusuf Mikhalil, a newly employed staff member of the National Steel Raw Materials Exploration Agency (NSRMEA), Kaduna, noted that the Minister, as a member of the Federal Executive Council, has demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility to the people of Kogi State and Nigeria at large by ensuring that indigenes were not sidelined in the recruitment process. He added that the Minister has “proven to be a worthy and effective representative of the State at the national level.”
They also commended the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu for prioritising youth employment, while reiterating their support for the continuity of the administration beyond 2027. “For us in Kogi State, our votes are for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu 100 percent” Mr Mikhalil said.
The delegation described their inclusion in the employment exercise as both life-changing and transformational, noting that it reflects responsive leadership and effective representation. They further pledged to justify the confidence reposed in them by contributing meaningfully to the growth of the steel industry and Nigeria’s economic development.
In his response, Minister Audu appreciated the visit and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the interests and welfare of Kogi State at the Federal Executive Council. He urged the beneficiaries to remain diligent and committed to their duties, stressing that they have a critical role to play in the revival of the steel sector, particularly at the Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited and National Iron Ore Mining Company both located in Kogi State, where some of them have been deployed.
