KOSIEC to hold Grassroots Sensitization for Kogi State Local Government Elections in Kabba tomorrow
Following the first stakeholders’ meeting and the announcement of the timetable for the Kogi State local government election in Lokoja, the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) has launched a grassroots sensitization campaign across the state.
The Commission began its sensitization efforts with a visit to the palace of the Attah of Igala Kingdom, HRM Matthew Alaji Opaluwa Oguche Akpa II, on Tuesday and the Ohinoyi of Ebira land, HRM Ahmed Tijani Anaje today, Wednesday in Okene while that of Kogi west senatorial district will hold tomorrow in Kabba.
The commission will first pay Royal visit to HRM, Oba Solomon Owoniyi, the Obaro of Kabba’s Palace to meet with the paramount ruler and his chiefs before moving to the Kabba-Bunu local government Secretariat to meet with all other stakeholders.
The commission is expected to hold a town hall meeting with stakeholders from the seven Local Government Areas in the Western Senatorial District of the state.
The Chairman of the Commission, Hon. Mamman Nda Eri, will do among other things encouraged voters to participate actively by coming out with their voters’ cards on October 19, 2024, to vote for candidates of their choice and also to conduct themselves peacefully to prevent any casualties, emphasizing that no lives or property should be endangered during the election process.
The commission said security agencies are also expected at the town hall meeting while representatives of all political parties, market men and women, driver’s union and community development associations, civil societies and NGO are also invited to grace the program.
